Do you remember the Children's song?
"I want to be a missionary now. I don't want to wait until I'm grown. I want to share the gospel while I'm young, For I have a testimony of my own.
I want to tell my friends about our church and the happiness it brings to me. I'll tell them how the gospel was restored, Tell them how the Book of Mormon came to be.
Then I can be a missionary now. I don't have to wait until I'm grown. I'll live each day the best that I know how, And they'll see I have a testimony of my own, A testimony of my very own."
We went to our new ward on Sunday and were overjoyed to be met by so much love and acceptance. So much acceptance in fact that they didn't even wait one Sunday before they had read our names into the ward and called us into the bishop's office for callings. We are now ward missionaries!!! To be honest this scares me. I have always dreamed of what it was like to go on a mission and have always been excited to one day have that chance. I am still excited for this neat opportunity to fellowship those who are in our ward and who are working with the missionaries right now, it is just way out of my comfort zone... but that is what the Lord does right? He always gives us callings to make us grow and as soon as we are comfortable he calls us somewhere else where we are uncomfortable again.
If any of you have any ideas or pointers on how to get to know our neighbors we would sure appreciate the inspiration. It is a lot different here from Rexburg and we are trying to figure out how to go about it when their life styles and home life are so different from ours.

I am with you on being out of your comfort zone and we are in the same boat, Denver is VERY different from Rexburg. We each have two callings and we have just been asked to fellowship a family from Africa that is investigating the church. We are supposed to sit with them, invite them activities, read the BOM with them, and attend some of their discussions. It is quite overhwelming sometimes, and I feel like we have NOTHING in common! With so much that we already have to do I was a little frustrated when they asked us to fellowship. But, I realized that I LOVE the gospel and that is what matters most of all. You will be great at it, I KNOW it!
AND, CONGRATULATIONS! We are so excited for your baby!
You're expecting! Congrats Jill! And yes, life outside Rexburg is vastly different, but so wonderful and refreshing. You'll do wonders with your calling!
Whhaaaaat you're having another baby!? Congratulations!!!! That is SO exciting! We're so happy for you guys!
Your new calling sounds hard and definitely one of those "out of comfort zone" ones, but the Lord knows what is best! I suggest having game nights or potlucks with people that you fellowship. It can always be fun to just have fun together and that might help them be more open to listening to gospel topics. Maybe after a while, invite them to an FHE or something. Those are my suggestions :)
Congrats guys, that's a big calling! And one that is perfect for you both!
Hey, Bryce and I were wondering what part of California you are living in? We're in California too, and we're wondering if we're neighbors (although it is a big state).
Hey! I am working at UC Davis, and we are living in Woodland, where are the Blakes?
