I realized that I've been posting a lot about hiking... This is our favorite thing to do right now on the weekends. We are able to get out of the house and other than gas it doesn't cost anything to enjoy a whole day in a beautiful place.
Saturday we went and hiked under Auburn California's Forest Hill Bridge. It is the highest bridge in California, third highest in the United States, and the ninth highest in the world. The bridge was originally built to go over a dam that was never built.
Some fun facts about it:
~ The bridge measures 2,428 feet from one side to the other
~ It is more than 730 feet above the American River
~ The bridge was built from each side outward, meeting int he middle.
Pretty amazing! It was amazing to see up close and drive over when we were done with our hike.

Fun hiking! I'm glad you have such great weather out there. Wasn't there a post about ideas for activities to do with Clair? It seems to have disappeared.
Anyway, I share very similar feelings with you on the parenting issue in the "struggles" post. John and I just started listening to these parenting tapes my sister has and raves about. There are 16 tapes by James J. Jones (he's lds). We were going to try to get it on CD for our convienence, but apparently the CDs have the religious stuff taken out to sell to more people nationwide, so if you can find someone with the tapes or maybe a thrift store out west would have them they're supposed to be awesome. We literally just started listening to them and haven't even finished the first side of the first tape, but he's very entertaining and I trust my sister's good opinion. But we'll let you know how we feel about it once we've listened to it completely.
If you decide to try them out, it's called, Complete Parenting Program "Let's Fix the Kids!" Creating a New Environment at Home. It's 18 hours of recorded live seminars and LDS scripture references by James J. Jones. Apparently he's pretty conservative and strict which is what John and I like (but we'll see...).
