Caleb's Birthday

Saturday morning I was so excited to get a first birthday picture of Caleb when he woke up.  So when he started making fussy noises I rushed right in and started sining happy birthday and flashing the camera... this is what I got...

 a very grumpy man!

So I assumed something was wrong.  Well I finally realized he wasn't ready to wake up.

The next time we heard him he was babbling in his crib.  This time Dad, Clair and I rushed in and we found our happy Caleb ready for a brand new year of being alive.

The night before Jason and I had crumpled colored paper and tossed them all over the floor then stacked block towers all over the room.  We didn't have balloons and I wanted it to be exciting and different so this was the best we came up with.

Both Caleb and Clair LOVED it.
They started by taking off all the tops of the towers then after they realized it was okay they knocked them all down.

Julie and Nathan came to celebrate with us.  They joined us for pancakes.  Caleb loved the yogurt on his.  He ended up eating it by the handfuls, literally.

We then went to the beach.  Caleb's favorite part was when Daddy and Uncle Nathan built a sand mound that he could knock over.

After we got home later that evening we washed up and got dressed to go to our new chapel's open house.  It was a great opportunity for a lot of missionary work but I don't think it was publicized very well.
After the open house we went shopping.  Clair and Caleb love going shopping, as long as they are not hungry... See how happy Caleb was!

At the end of our shopping trip Clair found her favorite thing about the grocery store- a car cart.  She insisted that Caleb and her had to ride in it to the car.  I think it was a great idea.  Caleb loves when Clair lets him do the things she is doing.
When we got home we ended the day by letting Caleb open his couple presents.  He received a toy bus, and a set of mini bowling pins and ball to knock down.

It has been an amazing first year with this amazing little man.  Jason and I feel so blessed with Caleb and Clair.  They are our greatest blessings.  We know they are children of our loving Heavenly Father.

Happy Birthday Caleb!
