Caleb Allen Christman

The story...
After hoping and hoping that he would come early (at the beginning of the week) and nothing happening I finally decided it was okay. Thursday was a busy day and so we were hoping he wouldn't come but Wednesday night I started having contractions. It was after Jason got home from a class in Idaho Falls (11:30pm) that they started getting really painful. I got up and walked around, ate a snack, and got a drink to see if they would stop. Instead of stopping they got a little worse. I woke Jason at about 2:00am and told him I thought it was the real thing. He handed me his i-pod where he had an app that would keep track of the number of contractions, their duration, and the time in between each. He then rolled over and went back to sleep. The contractions started coming every ten minutes and lasted that way for an hour then they went to being seven to eight minuets apart. Jason woke up at 4:30 to check on me. I was trying to hold out until five before I called the Dr. Jason ended up calling him and made the report that it was okay to head up to the hospital. We left the monitor to our sleeping princess with my parents who were wide awake and so excited. When we got there the poor sleepy nurses hooked me up. I am so grateful for those nurses! Luck would have it that once I was hooked up I would stop contracting... At my doctors appointment the day before I had been dilated to a four now I was a 6 so they let me stay. I made it through the IV and received the epidural. around 11:00 the Dr. broke my water. Just after one I was ready to push. I pushed three sets of three and there he was. It was so different from with Clair. I think the difference came because I knew more what to expect, and more of what it meant. Caleb only cried when they pinched him to make sure he was breathing and again when they bathed him. I was extra numb from the epidural and so we stayed in the room for a while until I was able to move and get off the bed. During the wait time both our moms came to say hi and Clair came to meet her little brother. She got so excited and wanted up on my bed to see the baby. She kept saying baby over and over and was so excited to hold him. She then got really hyper from her excitement so she didn't stay long. Later that night we had both Jason and my family come over for a double birthday party for my mom and little Caleb. We enjoyed lemon ice cream and danish puff. Both Caleb and I were doing well enough that we were able to leave on Friday afternoon to go home from the hospital. We are still all doing great.

Congratulations to you all! Trev was the same way when I went into labor- I told him I was having serious contractions and he tried to help me time them but ended up falling asleep. So glad you're all doing well!
