The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, The Mormons, Joseph Smith, Book of Mormon, Gordon B. Hinckley, Romney, Temples

I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I am a Mormon. I love it. :) It brings me joy. This is not a sect, or some weird religion. I am a 21 year old guy about to get married FOREVER to the girl a love. Im a photographer, and I like music and dancing. I have a wonderful life and I feel SO blessed. I feel happy most days. I have great father and mother. and a beautiful little sister and two handsome little brothers. I am writing this so that anyone could understand a little tad of what I believe as a Mormon. That you may know that its not a weird cult. and that we dont worship any strange thing or person, but that we worship God our Father and His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. I dont write this as an attack or a defense, but only as a testimony of what I believe. I volunteered to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the wonderful people of Veracruz, Mexico for two years, and I have just returned. I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lord's true church again on the earth. I believe that Christ came to the Earth as our Heavenly Father's son. He came to live a perfect life and to give a perfect example to all of us. He showed us the way of life that will bring us the most peace and happiness possible here and in the life that comes after death. He came to give us hope. He showed us how much He loves us when He was willing to die to pay the price of our mistakes, and be resureccted to make it possible that all of us can live again. I know that we all will live again. I know that if we are willing to change our lives and live the way Christ taught, then Christ's death can cleanse and change our souls. That we can be clean again if we are willing to follow the plan. Shortly after Jesus' death and ressurection he accended to heaven with a perfect body. He left His church on the Earth with Peter and the other Apostles in charge. This church had the power to baptize, and was there to teach and help all men find joy. The Apostles had the power and authority to lead this church. Only a man with authority from God has power to do things in his name, like baptize or lead His church. This authority is given by laying on of hands. And can only be recieved that way. The original 12 apostles had this authority, they got it by laying on of hands from Jesus himself. But as we read they were persecuted and killed in the first 100 years after Christ. Very quickly the authority was lost, and revelation ceased, the church disappeared off the face of the earth for many years, because of the people's wickedness. That is why the Bible ends. John was the last of the apostles. But i do not believe that God has left us. He did not turn His back on us, rather we on Him. I know that He wants to bless us with His church and His gospel. That is why He did not cease to inspire men. Many were inspired to pave the way for a future restoration of His church. He would again call apostles and prophets, as He always has. The Reformation and the Renesance opened men's minds and gave way to religious freedom. Religious freedom created a place for the Lord to raise a prophet and His church in our day. Joseph Smith was called as a prophet in the early 1800s, he was given the authority by the original 12 apostles who appeared to him as angels. Joseph Smith in turn, gave the authority to other men whom the Lord had called. Joseph Smith also was given power to translate the Book of Mormon, Which is a book of scripture similair to the Bible, but was written by ancient prophets in the Americas who lived during about the same time as those in Jerusalem. I believe the Bible contains the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I also believe the Book of Mormon contains the same gospel, that we may learn more of Jesus and His visit to the Americas after His resurrection. These books are the core of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The book of Mormon was an important part of the Restoration of Christs original church, as the Bible states, By their fruits ye shall know them. The Book of Mormon is a fruit of the Restoration that you can touch and feel, and read. Thus the Lord Jesus Christ once more established His church, so that we all can learn of Him. I know that this truley is His church. I know it only because I have prayed and asked the Lord, I have also read the Book of Mormon. I know that if you pray, the Lord will hear you. He will answer. You will feel it. You may not see anything. I never have. But because of what I feel in my heart, I know that the things I have just shared with you are true. Look for that peace and assurance. This is His church, with His authority, with His prophets. Joseph Smith died 200 years ago, but the Lord continues to call prophets. Today his name is Gordon B. Hinckley I know that he is a prophet just a Moses was. Jesus and our Heavenly Father speak to him and guide this church through him. The Gospel of Jesus Christ that I have been taught in His church has brought me peace and joy. Most of all it has taught me the purpose of this life. Where we all came from, Why we are here, and exactly where we go after this life. I invite you to learn more. and especially to pray about this, and pay attention to what you feel. there are very few real things in this world. This is one of them. And it is most important.
